Question: Will you stay in Vietnam in the future?
Direct answer: Yes, I will.

1. Give a reason

It’s because I don’t want to live far away from my family. I’m not much of a loner. My parents and sister matter a lot to me.

2. Add another

It’s because I don’t want to live far away from my family. I’m not much of a loner. My parents and sister matter a lot to me. Another reason is that I prefer the Vietnamese culture. I haven’t even experienced all of it yet.

3. Go into detail

I will remain here in Ho Chi Minh city, probably somewhere suburban. I like the southern part of Vietnam in general, you know, the people, the scenery, the culture. Yeah, so, I’ll stay.

4. Provide an example

In fact, I’ll probably move to a coastal city, you know, like Nha Trang, or Phan Thiet, or Quang Ninh. They are famous for their beautiful beaches. I really have no need to live in another country.

5. Share a like/dislike

I don’t know, but I feel rather emotionally attached to this country, the people, the land, the culture. I grew up here and so I’ll remain here for the rest of my life.

6. Change the time

I’ll remain here for the rest of my life. Well, to be honest, I did want to live abroad when I was a child, you know, seeing all these American movie stars on TV — it kinda inspired me. But now I seem to lose that interest.

7. Give an opinion

I believe that Vietnam is one of the best countries in the world. You know, we have no war, no huge conflicts, not that many natural disasters, and people are generally approachable and hospitable.

8. Discuss people’s opinion

Although some people say that I should move to another country like Canada or Australia for better living standards and job opportunities, I don’t think it’s really the case. I’m doing just fine here in Vietnam.

9. Compare and contrast

Here I have my friends and my family who matter a lot to me. If I move abroad, I have to start afresh, you know, making new friends, adjusting to new cultures — it’s just not really worth it.

10. Make a prediction/guess

The way I see it, I think my country will continue to develop and prosper, so staying here is a good choice, not just for me, but also for my children.

11. Change the scope

But I’m not sure if I’ll stay in the same city for the rest of my life. Perhaps I’ll move to a smaller city or even the countryside, to be a bit closer to nature.

12. Admit ignorance

Note: This means you’ll say “I don’t know” in the direct answer.

Elaboration: Really, I have no concrete plan at the moment. Perhaps I will, because I don’t want to live far away from my family. But who knows someday I’ll change my mind. 🤷‍♀️
